Korean Fried Chicken Bao Buns
A deliciously spicy snack or meal!
Several years ago, I started making bao buns at home because they were impossible to find at the Asian grocers in Zurich. There were even no restaurants serving them because, presumably, they relied on the frozen variety which no one was importing into Switzerland.
Fast forward 10 years or so and we see bao buns on nearly every menu at an Asian eatery. My Asian grocer even stocks the frozen ones from time to time, although whenever I want to buy them, they are inevitably sold out.
But there is no mistaking that homemade is always best. I make yeasted breads like bao buns at home so often now that it is almost part of my regular cooking routine. The fillings vary depending on what we have as leftovers or how much time I have to cook.
But fried chicken is always a favourite 😊
When it comes to fried chicken, I often make my kids’ favourite Popcorn Chicken, which I will transform into Korean Fried Chicken by making a spicy sauce for the adults. It’s a win-win for everyone!
Happy cooking!
